What in the world is that website???

As you will discover very quickly- we use a wide variety of websites at JMI and in our classroom. Here is a quick overview of what each of those websites are and how they are used!

Parent Portal/Genesis: This website is used to input students' grades for the marking period. On Parent Portal you can view grades for assignments /continued learning/ assessments and see if your child is missing any assignments that should have been handed in..

Study Island: This website is used as practice for PARCC in class and for continued learning. Students will be given weekly assignments to complete that are aligned with what they are learning in class. These weekly assignments will be used as a "homework" grade in Genesis.

Discovery Education:  This website is used as our Science "textbook". Since we no longer use traditional paper textbooks, Discovery Education is our main resource for Science activities, explorations, reading passages, and videos. Discovery Education can be found through Canvas or Clever.

Lexia:  Lexia's pre-K–5 literacy solution is built around the specific needs of each student.  The solution is designed to adapt based on student responses and provide real-time personalization while students work independently online. Real-time data from student interaction is sent to the teacher, fueling customized lesson plans based on each student's needs.  Using the program's norm-referenced and criterion-referenced embedded assessment, teachers can focus on personalized instruction without having to stop to administer a test.

BrainPop: This website is used as a resource with cartoon videos that help explain the concepts that we are learning about in class
